Paint for underside of Vixen
Discussion
I am at the stage in restoring my Vixen where I want to paint the underside of the bodyshell.
It has some flaking paint that I can wirebrush off (red lead/red oxide primer?) in readiness to paint, but can't decide on which to apply. The bare shell is up on its side, so all is accessible and for simplicity, would prefer to roller and brush rather than mask up and spray. Oh, and I want it to be black.
I have considered the basic, softer finishes such as Hammerite Underbody Seal as well as hard bedliner finishes, but their specifications sometimes shy away from saying they are suitable for applying to GRP.
What success have others had and with which paints please?

I used Plasti Dip HCF last winter. Still early days but it was easy to brush on, left a neat & tidy finish and hasn't cracked, spoiled, chipped so far. I wanted a flexible water based paint that suits plastic/fibregalss, rather than a bitumen based thick coating that cannot be painted over in the future.

Thank you both Phillpot and Moto, appreciate the replies.
Plastidip HCF does it for me and the reviews were all good too.
Couple of questions please Moto: I intend to roller the flattest areas and brush the trickier bits (wheelarch lips). Did you spray or brush/roller? How many coats as the spec sheet doesn't state this, so I can work out how many tins to buy? Finally, assuming you chose black, was the finish matt, satin or gloss please?
TIA.

I applied with a brush. Applied two coats but ran out so some less visible parts only got one. Yes I went with black and it dries to a satin finish.Plastidip HCF does it for me and the reviews were all good too.

Was that the 750 mL tin or the 2.5 litre tin, for the coverage you managed please? Glad it's a satin finish too as that's what I would have opted for, given the choice.
750ml. I'd definitely go with 2.5l and possibly a 3rd coat.Moto
