For a while now i could hear a faff faff from the Exhaust on my 3000S.
It has a full stainless steel JP Exhaust including Manifolds, very nice very strong.
Nothing to do so i looked around all the Flanges where they fit to the Cylinder Heads.
Bingo a little Soot around 2 Flanges, n°3 and n°5.
On the 4,5,6 bank the Screws had good Spring Washers fitted.
On 1,2,3 bank only thin flat Washers NO Spring Washers.
I've replaced the blown Exhaust Gaskets and made sure there are strong Spring Washers on every Screw.
Not so easy to get to some of the Screw heads and wondered if some of you have fitted Cap Head Screws. But i'm not so sure with Cap Head Screws Spring Washers would be so effective in locking.
What have others been doing.

I use cap heads on both my V6 engines, no problems

Just got these on line for the new manifolds I’m making for the Gem, about £12.00 delivered, Supplied with spring washers only but I will put flat washers on also where I can.
Plenty of copper slip also.

Many thanks boys,
always nice to share different ideas.
For the moment i have hex head Stainless Screws. Copperslip on threads and Exhast Gaskets fron Burton Power.
I will buy some Stainless Socket Screws for the next time.
I have ground down some Ring Spanners on the outside to tighten Screws with damaging them.
I must refit the Brace across the 2 Exhausts just before the first Silencer also.

I watched a great video on YouTube showing how to lock wire bolts properly , the person was doing it on an airplane propeller which , if I remember correctly, had both left and right hand threads.

I struggle doing it neatly myself.

I always wonder what happens during race car construction that makes exhaust manifolds fall off biggrin
Road cars seem to never want to come off even with heat, plus gas and 10ft tommy bars on stubborn nuts yet as soon as it is in a race car It must want to just fall off hehe

And why not, it always looks tasty and a cared for Engine look.
The Cherry on the Cake as they say in France "La Cerises sur la Gâteaux".
In a past life i was a QC Engineer in Aerospace Industry and everything was very neatly Wirelocked.
I couldn't hazard a guess how much Wirelocking i have checked out, miles.

I’m struggling to follow where you get to with those, my conclusion is somewhere near the drivers door mirror via the nearside brake disc. confused

That’s not a bad summary of the route actually.

During fit up and fabrication.

Mrs P wouldn’t complain about her legs being cold with that setup. Nice.

Despite being custom made and simplified ( from what was there) they were still a right swine to fit.

Might need to do something with those cables under the exhaust passenger side Jon, could be very expensive..
