Door an ignition lock for ´78 Taimar
Discussion
On my 1979 Taimar, the door locks are keyed differently to the ignition barrel. I assume that it's always been like that from the factory.
Door locks are Ford - as others have noted, Capri/ Granada
Ignition barrel (and ignition lock) is Triumph. From memory, "Late" 1500 Spitfire, or possibly TR7 too for the whole lock unit for my 79 model. Early Spitfire and I think TR6 don't mount the same way physically and hence can't be used.
I replaced my ignition lock some years back due to a key snapping off in the lock. I drilled out the "sheer bolts" and removed the whole unit, then refitted with a new unit and new bolts. I seem to recall that there were 2 different units which would physically fit. One had an extra electrical "tab" underneath, and the other didn't. I can't remember if one was Spitfire and the other TR7, but I expect that I chose whichever one was cheapest at the time!
