I have just bought from Webcon a Snorkel/Plenum for the DGMS on my 1978 3000S.
I will run from the Snorkel trunking to the moulded in ducting on the inner wing.
The same way as the heating ducting is done on the opposite inner wing.
Where the exit is at the front i will fit a Cone Filter.
That way fresh air is feed to the Carb.
On my Lotus Elan Sprint it is done this way to ensure fresh air supply to Carbs.
Have any of you Guys done this to your "M" series or Taimar.
If so what do you think.

I'm still waiting for the delivery of a Cone Filter and Trunking. It will be like in the photo but try to keep as tidy as possible.

I looked at fitting one of those but wasn't sure if they are slim enough to fit under the bonnet?

Let me know how you get on smile

Can you get smooth bore trunking for the air supply?

On my Lotus Elan sprint the flex tube is corrugated (small corrugations).
This means it's flexible when detached from Carbs. Also for Engine movement better.

I see what you mean but many use corrugated e.g. Lotus, Demon Tweeks etc.
For sure i'll try to make the best flow as possible.
When it has been installed also do an update

I tried this, and machined a base plate for a 40 DFAV. Cone filter and 1m duct.

Wouldn’t fit under the bonnet!

Sold the lot for £60 on eBay a month ago

This is on a 3000S and i plan to use the moulded in Ducting on the inner Wing. Much the same as the passenger side that uses the moulded in ducting on the inner wing for the Heating Fresh air.
I will see, nothing ventured nothing gained.

I have just measured the space above the dgms on the 3000S and inside of Bonnet.
I have had to reduce the height of the Snorkel by 8mm.
I also looked on the 3000M and there is plenty of room because the Bonnet is higher.
I will fit the Snorkel on the 3000S and use the moulded in ducting on the inner Wing driver's side.
With the moulded in ducting on the inner wing it should be a neat installation. Cone Filter will be at the front of the moulded in ducting in cool fresh air.

I have a wee chuckle when I see the 3000S Snorkel post.

Requirement for a Snorkel was the reason we sold ours laugh although we regret the sale a few years later...

Best not to drive a 3000S when it's raining.
A Ragtop is for the sunny days.
When it's raining i use my Lotus Elan Sprint fhc, no leaks and with heating + demister that works.
It's funny when someone buys a Ragtop the first thing they want to buy for it is a Hardtop lol.
Find the logic in that .

2012 Classic Le Mans Weather was dreadful, thought we may drown in the car the water ingress was so bad. Probably needed new seals at the time to be fair. idea

Snorkel fitted with flexible Trunking to the moulded in Trunking on drivers side.
At the front of grp moulded in Trunking i have fitted a 45° Elbow and Cone Filter that just misses the Bonnet Frame, perfect. Now nice cold Air supply to Carb just like on my Lotus Elan Sprint.

Looks good, have you measured clearance to bonnet?

It's on a 3000S so the bonnet is closer than on a 3000M.
I did a very careful check using Plastercine and it seemed very close so i reduced the height of the dome cover by about 6mm and now i seem to have clearance of about 7mm.
On a 3000M or Taimar there would be much more clearance.
I will soon find out when i drive it to see if i get stars on the bonnet lol.
Just need some good weather to get out and drive to test it.
