T9 fit to Essex V6 3000S
Discussion
When i bought my 1978 3000S i was happy to know the previous owner had fitted a "T"9 five speed gearbox. Like Adrian said this is the best thing you can do to a 3000S.
The only strange thing was when i depressed the Clutch i could hear a vibration.
I crawled under the car and found that when the "T"9 had been fitted fitted the original alloy TVR Gearbox Support had been used. They had drilled additional holes in the Chassis further back to line up with the new position of the "T"9. They hard cut some metal out of the alloy Support Bracket to stop it touching the Bellhousing.
Not enough metal had been removed and there was still contact made when the Clutched was depressed.
I discovered Adrian makes a steel "T"9 Gearbox Support to stop the contact.
I contacted Adrian and he fixed me up with the special steel Gearbox Support.
Now it is perfect 100% thanks to Adrian.
The Clutch on my 3000S is cable operated
