Immobiliser problem
Discussion
I have recently got my TVR 3000 M 1978 up and running again.. I have driven it between 70 and 100 miles and it has been running well.. Unfortunately somehowThe immobiliser has kicked in and and I cannot get it to turn off, I have flashing lights and alarms wailing but I cannot get it turned off.. I have three pairs of fobs two pairs of the fobs seem to have some affect but the two small receptive fobs one red one black seem to have no effect at all can anyone help me with this problem Or tell me if there is anyone in the great Yarmouth area that can help me thanks for taking the time to read this look forward to hearing what you have to say Best wishes Gavin
Hi.
This may not be of much help but here goes.
We fit Sterling Security ‘toad’ Excel immobilisers to the car she build.
The last batch seem to have issues which we can only guess is within the immobiliser unit consisting potentially of ‘sticky’ relays that actually control the circuit isolation.
We have found that rapid on and off of the ignition whilst holding the transponder in a close enough
Position to trigger helps the thing decide to trigger correctly.
Another way we have used this technique is the flick the battery isolator on and off to cause the same effect.
The problem is worst from new commission and seems to settle over use which is why the ‘sticky’ theory.
The supplier has been useless with support really as they will not admit anything is wrong rather the problem is with the setup. However having fitted about forty of the things I can’t see that being likely.
So my suggestion Is to try and rapidly trigger the thing or maybe give a voltage boost with some sort of jump that could help those relays wake up.
Of course my experience is pretty specific to one system which is not necessarily what you have but I did say it might not be of much help.
Good luck..
Andrew
