I need to change a leaky diff pinion oil seal but see significant price variance online (TVR spares vs James Paddock for example) I take it Salisbury made different versions of diff so if I knew the model type for my 78 Taimar it would help. Or if anyone can recommend a good supplier so I don't end up with dodgy Chinese tosh.
Same question for front inner wheel bearing, I originally sourced 2 sets of bearings from Adrian but following a house move, I've misplaced one of the inners. I either purchase from the Triumph specialists who don't specify the manufacturer of find the part number/size and order a good brand

I suggest you use Adrian again. I think he is still selling spares and you know it will be 100%

You can get Timken bearings for the front wheels. A fair bit more expensive though.

You probably know, but changing the diff pinion seal isn't a simple matter. Best to check the bearing preload on reassembly

I'm confused. Adrian announced he had ceased trading?

Well he has not announced it here.
I thought he was still selling parts a bit like Saint Miles Wilkins and Lotus parts.
Maybe he could let us know.

I've not been on here long enough to know the nuances & politics of PH/ TVRC/ FB but, purely from posts on here, I get the impression that Adrian Gray is not keen on PH for some reason, much more of a Fakebook fanboy (he recently signed off with something along the lines of "I'm off to Fakebook now").
I too understood that he had quit his business premises, maybe he's operating from home, but I'm sure I saw an advert of his in the latest issue of Sprint, not got it here but think it was 'Gray's Automotive Parts' or somesuch, within the first few pages.

FYI, but, as my profile states ...then, I am creating a resource of fact based information on my FB page ...happy to help members there with the hoard of parts, parts numbers and information garnered over the 40 years of TVR ownership. I try only to to post here when a poster, 'experts' are going to either cause a danger to themselves or other owners. Just happy to help people these days. A@

Apologies for any confusion I may have caused.
What I don't get is why anyone would think that Fakebook is a better place for caching information and knowledge than a forum like this.

I agree, or a website with password entry maybe a small fee for joining. FB is just the pits to navigate and full of idiotic kids posting banal rubbish whenever I’ve looked at it! Each to their own, I’m probably just a dinosaur and need to get up to speed.

I find the exact opposite which is why I seldom post on here anymore..
My facebook page has 400 ish enthusiast members and its access is controlled by a single moderator.. Me. that way when I see spurious profiles, People who don't post as themselves etc etc I simply press the reject button.. That way I know all the people I am talking to and they know me. similarly because everyone knows each other it is very respectful and the information passed all in good faith by an appreciative audience.... You should all try it.. Its the future biggrin

Your views on FB echo mine and still do to a certain extent, but someone introduced me to the following FB groups.

International TVR Grantura Owners Group
Lilley Wilkinson TVR Group
Classic TVR owners (pre-1980s)

These are closed groups (to keep the idiots out) so you have to request to join them, but then you had to request to join Pistonhheads

There are other groups the specialise in later TVRs, but my interest is in anything before 1980.

It is no harder to find/search for info within the group that is is to find info on Pistonheads.

My own FB profile is locked down as much as I can make it and I don't post anything on it, My choice because I don't want use FB for anything other than TVR stuff.

I still (obviously) look at Pistonheads but much of the specialist TVR traffic has moved over to the FB groups.
People on the groups tend to mainly use there real names. It's the one thing that annoys me about Pistonheads is that people tend to hide behind pseudonyms.

I suggest you have a look, if you don't like it then dump it.

Imho all the Forums have good things and bad things nothing is perfect.
Just choose what bits you like and help one another. Share and pass on your knowledge.
Have fun.
