TVR auction in Belgium:
https://www.moyersoen-auctions.com/ords/f?p=2008:7...

Description says 1973, 8 cylinders, 1600 cc. Badge on rear is off a Triumph 2500 PI Mk2. Suppose this car was delivered new with the Triumph 6 cylinder engine which could well be in 1973, but in the car I see a 4 cylinder engine. No idea what make? Anyone knows? Ford?

I believe that issue (oil feed pipe blocking) was sorted years ago.

The chassis number indicates that it was originally delivered with a ford engine (FM suffix)

Starting price EUR7000 highest bid EUR9000. No indication if this met the reserve.

Interesting time to try and sell your motor. Auction opened 2 weeks ago.

You cannot pick the car after the auction, only professionals can do this. So, you have to pay an extra for a company to carry the car to your place. Or, to pay extra for the auction company to keep your car for weeks.
I was tempted but if you add this, plus the 20% of fees, plus the risk margin of buying a rotten car, this is less tempting.

the car most likely had a 1600 ford x/flow fitted and whyever, a 1600 pinto was retrofitted. the 1600 pinto is the worst choice you can do....its an unlively engine.....and the car comes with greek-reg.documents, but sold in Belgium....very strange.....

probably about right frown heavy and little power / torque. The 2ltr version was better and used extensively in Escorts including rallying. Mine had lots of modifications at thee time - BV head . cam / twin 45 Weber etc and still only produced 118bhp at the wheels. It was competitive at the time with numerous top 10 results.

Now a days you can obtain almost twice that with a Zetec / Duratec

its no worse than sticking with a crossflow. 16 and 20 Pintos can be made to go very well both equally tunable and both used back in the day as class sized engines... Just a bit long in the tooth.. Probably a bit more plentiful than crossflows and more cheaply bought. But yes other than they are very cheap there isn't much point in using one unless you have inherited it smile

9k€? for a LHD car is not much money...this said...its not original (engine) neither any info about condition of chassis and as you already pointed out: was the reserve met?
