On a rewired vixen where should the 12v to 10v unit be fed from and what does it feed is it just temp and fuel gauges?

As I suspect the rewire is all 12v can I just fit a 12v to 10v unit on the feed to the temp sensor as I’m not too fussed about the fuel gauge - if so which way round should it be?

Is it shown on the standard vixen wiring diagram or is it the main ‘voltage regulator’

An electronic voltage stabiliser is much more reliable and responsive than the tin can type below

Anyway, below info shows the termination of a can type and link to supplier

Dashboard Voltage Stabilizer

Dashboard gauge voltage stabilizer. Output voltage stabilized to 10V +/- 0.4V. A single stabilizer will service two gauges.

Fitted with two dual blade connectors:

Male 6.35mm dual blade connectors marked ‘B’ should be connected to switched ignition voltage.
Female 6.35mm dual blade connectors marked ‘I’ is the stabilized 10V output.

- The case (via the fixing bracket) must be bolted to the chassis/ground.

Two units available. One for negative earth, the other for positive earth applications.

Yes I think Spyder do gadgets for that. I’ve just fitted a rev counter with their innards in for electronic ignition. Had to calibrate it but it works well and doesn’t jump all over the shop. The old one went up to 7000rpm just turning the ignition switch on!

But the Voltage Regulator only supplies the Fuel Gauge and Temp Gauge NOT the rev counter

OP...Q. you mention 'main regulator' a Vixen with...Smiths gauges or AC gauges? Alternator or Dynamo, then what wiring diagram are you working to. A@

I think you may have picked up the wrong stick, Alan. The way that reads to me is that 'V6 Pushfit' fitted a Spyder product to update his tacho innards to better cope with electronic ignition.
This is a distinct and separate product from the voltage stabiliser they may or may not do for the minor gauges.

Read it as pushfit needs 10 volts to drive a temperature gauge

Looks like something's running a script on your phone or computer and there's also a keyboard problem

The AC gauge does not run with a 10V voltage regulator. A@

So the AC gauges (fuel/temp) don’t use a 10v stabilised voltage???
