Project required
Discussion
Hi,
I'm on then look out for a TVR project car from 60's/70's for myself and have not been successful to date so thought I'd ask here among the knowledgable. Nirvana for me would be a Vixen bodied car, 2500M or possibly a 3000M. The condition of any available cars (medium restoration to basket case) isn't really an issue but one that is all there or as near as complete would be my preference. I have been looking at the obvious websites for availability already but can't see anything in the UK that hasn't been restored already. Any assistance or leads gratefully received.
Regards.

You know, they didn’t make a lot of these in the first place and a lot are now what you’d call hobby cars, so they don’t appear very often anyway.
Have you considered a later S series?
Very similar to the early cars in there simplicity, they look pretty good and more importantly are available requiring rebuilds, just a thought.

Moto/GAjon,
Thanks for your thoughts and comments. I've had a few TVR's but my earliest memory of a TVR was an early Vixen back in '76 and it has stayed with me. I don't have any of the desire for an S or Wedge car that I do for those earlier chrome bumper cars (less so for later M's). There are some very nicely maintained/restored UK cars on PH etc that I could afford but don't need the premium of race preparation or FIA papers etc. This is more my desire to regenerate an early simple classic to my taste. I'm in no rush and will consider any viable projects out there; I missed the 2500M auctioned this week while away on hols.
This is an image as close to my distant memory is I've seen. Love it...

Taken about 40 years ago at Donington Park. Marcos Kit Car Show. Thanks for your thoughts and comments. There was an 2500M at ACA on Saturday, sold undervalue in my opinion, needed paint and a few bits doing, dampers leaking, oil leaks from engine/box and diff but chassis looked OK. The NS front brake hose was trapped between the coils of the spring so a good bump could prove interesting at the next corner but all in all it was a goer, I am looking for something better as I have a project already and need a running car.

That's the trouble with these forums, there's too many people like me who don't know what we're talking about
At least I got the 'TVR' bit right.

It was because of that famous number plate and its old owner (had to look that up again, Martin Lilley), Otherwise it looks almost the same as a Griffith 400 or UK TVR Griffith 200 At least I got the 'TVR' bit right.

"This beautiful classic is available for £25,000 in its current state or available for £90,000 fully restored by ourselves at Bridge Classic Cars"
65K to restore it???
How long does it take for you to restore a car 65K to restore it???
How much are the parts which will need to be bought to restore a basket case..
Once you add those 2 figures up you may surprise yourself...
Cars can be restored over time by any enthusiast but you cannot fudge the time taken in man hours... you get a bit quicker the more you do but old Father Time still ticks over and time needs to be paid for. There are a few others who maybe have lower overheads and hourly rates but Bonded cars are a complex little beast to restore properly.
