Heater hose question

I have been playing around with the car and doing some dry build work.



I got the wipers and peddle box and heater fitted and then tried to work out how the hoses go.

I think it goes like this:
off the distribution box at the back of the heater:
top hoses to the windscreen vents,
Bottom hoses out through the bulkhead and attach to the foot well inlet flanges.
Hoses from the bottom of the heater box in through the bulkhead to the vents on the ends of the dash.

But:
what happens in the footwells after the hose flange?Should there be some sort of air vent or is it just a hole?
