Polybushes or rubber for diff mountings ?
Discussion
The diff, drive shafts and prop shaft are currently being rebuilt on the Vixen. When I refit them I'm considering whether poly bushes are worthwhile or not.
Unlike suspension & steering where I see the benefit of having a less compliant bush, I can't see how this is so beneficial for diff mountings. Would a more compliant / softer rubber bush reduce the shock impact going through the drive train and reduce wear / damage from abuse (enthusiastic driving).
What's the general thinking ?

I believe I would have to agree. There are questionable rubber versions out there. A polybush in the diff. mount may transmit additional vibration/feel but will outlast any rubber bush in the long run. And yes...polybushes are less compliant than rubber in the suspension and steering area but that is a not the question you asked.
So back to the diff. mount......I would consider a longer lasting poly bush with a wee bit more feedback for the sake of a longer service interval.
I fitted polybushes all around on my M series rebuild. The ride is not quite as smooth as I want yet but I believe this is because the coils are too stiff and the 17" Compomotive wheels are not helping at all. But I really like the look of the wheels.
2 cents from over here.
