My 1969 vixen came fitted with this gearbox and quick shift fitted and a V6 Colone engine, the gear lever is in the correct position even with this linkage on,. Can anyone tell me if this is an advantage, as I haven't driven mine yet as it's an ongoing restoration, also what the nbsb stands for, ,?

Is it a heavy duty Type 9?
Or are you asking just about the linkage and where is nbsb on the gearbox casing?

Can’t help with the designation.
I made a similar linkage for my M , where the original gear lever is cranked and fits directly onto the gearbox lever.
The advantages I was seeking were a shorter throw/movement / less travel to make it feel a bit slicker than the kind of exaggerated swing of the cranked gear-lever.
I also found the amount of travel of the original on mine ripped up the gearstick gaiter, the reduced movement of the new arrangement should stop this.

I don’t think it’s particularly quicker in terms of gearchange time but I guess that’s the name for them ?

The quick shift on a standard Vixen 4 speed box is used by some of the guys I compete with and I must say it does feel very good to use. However as already said, I'm not sure it really makes gear changes any quicker.

Are you keeping the Cologne engine or putting something decent wink (running for cover) in the car. There's a nice looking Crossflow on ebay at the moment for good money.

Don’t know anything about the box when I purchased the car it was advertised as a t9 Ford nbsb five speed with quick shift , with a 2.8 colone engine and seira limited slip diff I just wondered if anyone had come across this linkage before , I’m quite happy to keep the colone v6 I used to own a Tuscan in the 70s , it was awesome in them days , thanks for the reply’s even the negative about the colone , just cheaper to keep what’s in as its cost enough to renovate as it is
