Details of an unusual and very interesting TVR have recently come to light. I have been in touch with a former owner, Michael, who has kindly sent scans of a letter from TVR, the V5, several photos and some further info.
The former owner, would be interested if gaps in the history of the car and also a clear idea of the development / modifications to the car could be found. I'm sure this would also be of interest to many of us here.
The car was built in December 1971 and had a left hand drive Vixen 2500 chassis number. These details have been confirmed by the TVR Car Club.
It was first registered in the UK on 1st Jan 1974. What happened between December 1971 and January 1974 is so far, unknown.
A letter from TVR in 1986, to the former owner Michael, stated the car had a Mustang type V8 engine and that the body was rebuilt in service.
When Michael had the car, in 1986, it had a V6 engine and according to the V5 was 2994 cc. The V5 also describes the car as assembled from parts, some or all of which were not new. It also appears to be right hand drive.
Michael has also stated the following regards registration numbers, dates and owners' locations:
From 01.01.1974 reg PAJ 194M, Newby, Scarborough
From 06.11.1975 (don't know reg but suspect SPY 90), Scarborough
From 16.03.1976 reg SDN 389M, Scarborough
From 07.02.1977 reg retained by a person in Scarborough
From 16.10.1977, Scarborough
From 09.11.1977 another owner who had the car for 5.5 years, unknown location
From 02.05.83, Ripon
From 30.08.86 Morton, Derbyshire
From 18.10 86 reg SDN 389M, Newark, Nottinghamshire.
From this point on, no further details are known.
Does anyone remember this distinctive TVR?
Is anyone able to fill in some of the gaps in its colourful history and development?

Sounds very like 48 UHU which was featured in an article in Classic Cars magazine June 2003. The car was bought by Ian Mackie in 1987 who rebuilt the car replacing the V6 with a V8.
I think you're right. The name rings a bell from talking to Mervyn at the Car Club. It looks like the car has recently been taxed and is still on the road. I've just bought a copy of the magazine off eBay.A long shot I know, but do you have contact details for the owner?
