Vixen Seat Replacement Options
Discussion
What seats fit the Vixen as replacements, with headrests?
I was looking at the Cobra Classic seat but not sure if it'll fit. Headrests are needed so there may even be a type that fits with a tilt lever rather than fixed back to give better access to the spare wheel etc. Something period looking would be good and obviously it needs to end up with a low squab for max height.
Any ideas/photos welcomed...

I have a set of Cobra RSR's in dads vixen. They look the bks but it unless you are 4ft 2 they make getting in and out of the car quite difficult.
The original Vixen hi and Low backs have a rake shape which suits the door aperture so from experience I would get some Hi backs to the original vixen design.
Someone will be along shortly to suggest MX5 seats. they will only work if you lower the floor significantly. I am only 5 ft 8 and when I tried those even without runners my head was lost in the headlining.
Last I heard Adrian Venn was making or had made new seat shells which can be trimmed.
Lee at trim unique could well be able to sort you out with new TVR hi backs.
Neil.

Imho i think it depends how you intend to use your car.

'Fast Road' use. Terrible expression as roads here are either too slow with traffic or too small to put your foot down.Alan
Makes me sound a bit rakish though so I'll stick with 'Fast Road'

Thanks Neil - and thanks for the heads up on the Cobra RSR's and MX5 seats they were something I was going to investigate. The original Vixen hi and Low backs have a rake shape which suits the door aperture so from experience I would get some Hi backs to the original vixen design.

Long story short I've had a big old neck operation so cant risk driving without headrests !
Be good to find something with a hinged back for rear shelf access though....
Or these? Look very slightly naff but if they fit and the headrest is removable?

I have some MX5 black leather seats in mine. Very happy with them too. Fit easy plenty of room. I'm 5' 10, not a problem.

Hello Alphonso,
Have you thought about Lotus Elise seats as an option? Not a Vixen but I have them in my '74 2500M. They fit nicely but not much extra room to spare.
I will dig up a photo and post it.
Arthur
Hi Arthur are those modern Elise or ‘70’s? Photos would be good.Have you thought about Lotus Elise seats as an option? Not a Vixen but I have them in my '74 2500M. They fit nicely but not much extra room to spare.

So no floor lowering as Neil suggests? Maybe the squab itself is lower....http://www.tvr.at/vixen2500-41.html

Yes Lee at Trim Unique has new high back shells available and can trim them to either original or leather in a style to replicate the original look.
I guess it would not be rocket science to have the original shells increased in height to incorporate a higher headrest.
I dont believe its been done before however there is always a first
