Hi All,

Following the failure of the window mechanism i have removed it from the drivers door. I was surprised to see that nothing was actually broken but just the regulator had jumped off the cog on the back of the winder. It seems the mechanism consists of one spring loaded (by the winding mechanism) bar connected to the slider on the bottom of the window. This seems to simple to be true.

Any insight into modifications for improved reliability and ease of use would be much appreciated.

Cheers, Finn

You could fit, wire electric window motors/mechanisms and leave the winder handles on the panels so that everything looks original

Only a section of the semi circular lift cog is used, and the cog teeth wear and deform.
This cog. Which is riveted can be drilled out and spun around so you get good unused teeth for the drive cog to engage with.

However, if the drive cog is worn also, as mine was, it’s a bigger problem. I got new cogs plasma cut and welded them in.

The biggest cause of the wear is the widow seals dragging so new seals help a lot.

I’m pretty sure Adrian does or will do exchange winded units with all the hard work done for a reasonable price.
