hi all.
a bit quicker than it took remaking the boots i managed some sparto light bulb holders. still have to add the wiring but that shouldn't be a problem i think.
i made 60 for single filament use with level pegs (indicator / reverse), 40 for doubles (tail- /stop) with unlevel pegs. earth wire is not soldered on as per original, but now uses 3.2 mm connector on lip at bottom. plenty of room in the boot without bulging it.
someone in the uk promised the rings, but i don't know that present status. could also do them myself but would be needing a good sample to go from.

i would like to thank mike carmichael for his contribution of an original sparto unit to work from: many thanks mike!!! if not for you these might not have been made. i still keep the box you send it in, but there's no full address from you on it. please send me a pm in order to return you a big favour.

interested parties may get in touch by pm. thank you.

I have now got one single stainless ring to test at the moment its the most expensive single Sparto lens ring in the world Tongue but it had to be done people have talked about doing this for years long before I bought my first TVR.
I have tested the ring in both a NOS boot with the lens and the original internals and with the L488 internals with the adaptor plate which I have had made.
And also tested it with the new reproduced boots that Geert has done.
Looks like we are good to go.
The reason the lens on the right looks different is there is no internal inside so the light reflects off the black background.

This is without adding the extra mm to create the lip and if anything I think it fits better as it is rather than tweaking it any more.

This is the adaptor plate to convert the Lucas L488 internals to fit the sparto boots and lenses.

Lucas used this method themselves when doing other larger lens lights such as the indicators on the Jaguar XK 140s etc.

This will allow changing to single and double applications.

Geert has had the originals re made as well however I always felt the originals internals where not as good a quality as the Lucas hence I went this direction for my cars.

One thing this project will eliminate sadly Wink is the thrill of looking for years for that elusive NOS set of these lights and the sheer joy it is when you finally go woopee loudly while your Wife are watching TVR and suddenly click on the piece of unobtanium that you found on e bay or elsewhere and she finally thinks you have gone totally mad, Sorry guys but there are still items like interior lights etc that will keep you busy on those long winter nights searching for.
