Yea me two used to have one in the late seventies pulled it off a drive in Northallerton I also had the Tuscan at the time so never got round to renovation , if I remember correctly it had the 1500 b series engine I think it was a 1959 , looks like the one for sale has the same engine in it you can see the 1500 on the block in the picture, I sold mine to a guy in Darlington ,
Always wondered what happened to it? Only a few hundred pounds in them days ,would be interested in this one but already have the vixen ongoing restoration, this one' looks like a big job to take on and not cheap especially with renovation costs , but they are commanding high prices now .I'm sure someone will take it on .

Hi Keith

I don't suppose the Grantura you had would have been RNL455? This was a 1959 Mk.1 and was around the north east (Northallerton/Stockton) in the early to mid 60s.

Hi Peter sorry don't know the number but I lived in Darlington at the time but worked in Stockton on tees on Durham road, at Barry thormans garage as a mechanic, that's we're the car was picked up from when I sold it , I sold it to a guy in Darlington , I pulled it off a house drive in Northallerton , it had been stood a lot of years but was compleate, it was maroon , if I new then what I know now , for what I paid for it it would have been worth storeing it for a few years , wish I'd taken some pictures , but l had the mk 2 Tuscan on the road at the time that I was using , so let the grantura go, cheers Keith

No bidders, not sold ,and that was a starting bid so who knows how much the seller valued the car at?

Thanks Keith. The car I mentioned was red with a black top and had a wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel.

Another TVR classic for r sale on eBay, 1968 S1 vixen had a lot of work done looks a nice car , item number 183499480422 £10,000 starting bid reserve not met still has four days to go, ? That's four early TVRs that have been up for sale lately and none have brought the asking price , worries me , Is interest diclineing on these cars, I hope not as I'm well into £ on my vixen restoration, I suppose people will say what's money if you love these cassic sports cars, and they will be right, but it's still nice to know you own something of value , and if you did have to sell you can get at least your outlay back, sorry just can't get a link to this item,

Lovely. My science teacher had a bright yellow Vixen in the mid seventies.

The market generally is very flat at the moment. I think a lot of people are holding their breath. The last 18 moths has seen a steady decline in classic car values. Some being hit harder than others. If you want to sell then you have to be very proactive. Prices are roughly 20 to 25% down on what they where

Unfortunately there’s a lot of tosh talked about prices, the wish is for them to be increasing as they have in the last few years but the reality is that it’s all down to what someone’s willing to pay.
The recent red M auction price seems low though but it’s an old chestnut of mine that an auction is the wrong place to sell, but good for buyers if they can be arsed to travel half way across the country to have a go!
There’s also the open market asking price and the single buyer agreed price which vary widely and some get muddled between the two.
