I have had a problem with the Fuse that feeds the Tacho, Fuel Gauge and Temp Gauge.
Each time i cleaned the Fuse clips + Fuse and all 3 gauges worked after for a few months.
I have decided that it's better to fit a new Lucas Fuse Box.
On the Wiring diagram the terminals n° 3 and 5 have a Link BUT the Fuse Box on my Car has n° 1,3 and 5 Linked.
Please could someone tell me on their 3000S what Terminals are Linked on the back of the Fuse Box
Many thanks
Alan

Where is No. 1 fed from on your diagram?

I'd hazard a guess at 3 and 5 being live with ignition and 1 being live with auxillary position on ign. switch (radio, cigar lighter etc)?

If having all three linked has worked for 40+ years on your car I'd be inclined to stick with it smile

I have a new Fuse Box but the supply Terminals are not linked across the same but it's difficult to see with the old Fuse Box still fitted to the Car.
If someone can confirm the Terminals that are linked on their 3000S i can prepare the new Fuse Box in advance.

I will get my multimeter out to check what terminals are hot and what is ignition switched. With the hot terminals i will cross link.

Just had a look at the Fuse Box and to see what is Fuse fed and what isn't.

Things Fuse fed and Ignition Switch supply: Tacho, Wipers, Washers, Indicators, Brake Lights, Heater Fan, Ignition Warning, Headlamp Flash, Ignition Feed to Coil.
Fuse fed but hot wire Hazard Warning.

I was surprised that NOT Fused Headlamps and Side Lights.

3 of the 4 Fuse Terminals are Linked together on the Input side.

I haven't found any Relays for the Headlamps either which to me seems bad practice sending the power through the Switches.

Maybe i will think later to add Fused Relays for Mainbeam, Dipped and for Headlamp Flash.

You don't need to use a relay for main beam flash, due to the column switches wiring/contacts configuration the main beam relay will switch the main beams on when you pull the switch to the flash position

You could wire in 4 x relays for side, main, dip and horn

Low current on sidelights, personally wouldn't bother put them through a relay.

Rewired my Taimar with six relays......... and a much bigger fuse box wink

Main beam
Dip beam
Horn
Fuel pump
Heated rear screen
Engine fan

We have a saying on modern cars, "Why use a relay when an ECU will do?". laugh Besides, it's nice to have a seconds pause before the lights come on... rolleyes

Hi Phillpot,
on my 3000S i don't need the Heated rear Screen BUT i have a 3000M with a heated rear Screen.
Could you tell me what you did for the Heated Rear Screen. For sure a Fused Relay but have you also fitted a timer on the Switch. So you don't forget and leave it on.

Bought one of these but never got around to fitting it partly because it requires an off/mom on switch and heated screen switch is of course off/on

Guess standard switch could be used, just a matter of flicking it on and off to activate screen scratchchin

If you know what you're doing there are all sorts of delay timers available these days for silly money
