Guys

Having a few issues with my recent purchase of the Taimar. The car has been sitting for 10 years, of which 1 year it was outside.
I am having issues opening the rear hatch. If i climb in the back, i can move the catch from left to right, which has allowed the hatch to
move up a few millimetres. It still wont open. If i stand at the back with the catch inside held open with a bungee, it feels as if the catch is
still catching as i try to lift it open. I can hear a noise as i pull the back up, which to me confirms the catch is still on. Does anyone have a
diagram showing the arrangement, so i can understand what is going on. The second issue is the fuel filler cap. The lock is off, but it is
not budging. I have sprayed plus-gas and wd40 around the hinge and along the lip of the cap. Any ideas?

For the Fuel Cap from inside the Car remove the floor and remove hose clips on Filler Neck. Then from outside remove Filler Cap complet with Filler neck.
You can then on your work bench drive out Scroll Pin from Cap Hinge.

Thanks Alan. I was going to remove the side panel and remove the whole filler arrangement. Would be earier
if i could open the hatch. Will have a go this weekend.

It sounds like the catch isn't fully opening/releasing. You may be able to release the nuts from below which may help. This is what it looks like incase you don't know. I hope that helps.

Remove the trim panel on the tailgate and the floor panel covering the tank and everything will be revealed and you can see whats happening the arm from the magnetic switch maybe fouled however the piston in the switch may have seized up and need cleaning and lubricating however easy to release by hand to get it open with the panel off.
If you still have issues unbolt the arms that hold the hatch up they may well be the issue

Thanks guys, will try and fix the 2 issues this weekend. The good news is that the car starts with
easystart. Fuel is around 10 years old,so need to get it out and replaced.

While you have removed the Panels i strongly suggest you put a cleanable Filter in the outlet from the Tank. I have a cleanable Filter on my 3000S and 3000M.
With a cleanable Glass Filter you can control all the crap that comes out the Tank.
On my 3000S there was so much i removed the Tank and gave it a good clean out. Bought a Kit of 3 Products with a Cleaner, Rust neutraliser, Special Resin Sealer. 100% success and much cheaper than replacing the Tank.

Short term fix though Alan if the car is a keeper ideally a new alloy tank that is baffled and dished is the best solution going forward as the original tank was not baffled glass filter a good idea though.

True short term fix but i did mine 4 years ago and there's still no dirt from the Tank.

But i must admit there is a smell of Petrol in the Boot. I'm hoping it's from the breather hose which i haven't replaced yet.
Whats the best for a replacement Tank Aluminium or Stainless. Is Stainless good for the different earth wires as original. I thought Stainless is a non conductor!!!

Stainless steel is still steel so it is conductive.

perhaps some one has a handy list of conductive and non-conductive metals?

Hi Charly yes you are right.
I got mixed up with the fact that depending on what type of Stainless it can be non magnetic.
However Stainless is not a good conductor as some other metals.
Alan
p.s. Aluminium is a better conductor than stainless steel
