Grantura MK2 race car info wanted
Discussion
Dear forum members
I am thinking of buying a MK2 Grantura race car. I raced a Marcos 1800 years ago and later an MGB FIA. Now thinking of going again... The Grantura always was one of my favorite cars and I know of one for sale here in Germany. Question is, I heard so many bad things about the VW suspension. Any experience / hints?
Thank you very much
Thomas

Hi,
In period the MGA engined Mk2 was quite competitive. The suspension and chassis is not as good as the Mk3 but a Mk1 or Mk2 allows you to enter Pre 63 events. A few are raced at the moment including Ivan Dutton's Climax Mk2 and Shaun Bromley's MGA Mk2a. if you are interested I can invite you to the Grantura Facebook group.
I own a Climax engined Mk2 but I've not competed in it yet.

Thomas,
I've sent you an invite to the Grantura Facebook Group, please let me know if you have any problems.
I forgot to mention only the 1588cc MGA engine Mk2 has FIA papers. There are no papers available for the Climax engine car.

There are also two set of papers for the Mk3 with 1622cc MGA and 1800cc MGB engines.
Which car in Germany are you looking at. There was a light blue Mk2 raced a few years back. Also a red Mk1 was for sale near Hamburg about a year ago.
Regards
Rob
