Are there any sources for a replacement sump / oil pan for the 3.0L Essex V6? I've only found a couple listings for used parts that don't look better than the one I've got...

Is yours tin? Would a 24v alloy sump fit your block?

"24v was the later "Cologne" engine. Completely different to the "Essex" engine unfortunately.


I'd look at getting the original repaired and reinforced.

If you're going to clobber a speed bump or whatever think I'd rather a tin sump that will bend than an alloy sump that could crack scratchchin

I think I've decided to hammer out the dents in mine, clean, and paint. Looks like there are no reproduction units being made.

Easier than it sounds with in inbuilt baffle plate!

I once welded skid plates to a metal sump. Would seem to offer a lot of extra protection.

Knocking from the inside with a hardwood drift onto a flat wood base works wonders with these. If it’s creased though it’s difficult but they do often come up on eBay
