Am I correct in thinking the original source of the bumpers ( in modified form ) were Triumph 2000's?

Someone gave me 4 Triumph cut off front corner. Cut to suit my 3000M at an angle.
The chrome is not so bad and i can live with it.
A friend who is an expert tig and mig welder made the end closing plates from stainless steel.
With Mig or Tig the heat is very local and caused very little discolouration/blueing of the chrome.
Some people might say it's not possible to weld stainless to chromed steel but as you can see in the photo it is possible.
I am well pleased with the result + they were free including the postage.

So long as you locally grind off the Chrome local to where you're welding its a fairly straight forward process. Looks like your man has made a mighty fine job smile

Did you get a price for re-chroming?

I haven't got a price to be rechromed yet. I have decided to sort out the repaint first now i have replaced the Weathershield.
I am sure the chroming will not be cheap.
