Hello,

I recently bought a 1971 Vixen 2500 and I have been doing a few little jobs to improve things. One of the jobs that needed doing was looking into the poor operation of the door windows, especially the passenger one.
I have removed the door card and the teeth on the regulator are badly chewed and damaged. I think I might try to locate new regulators for both sides and also renew the seals etc while I am in there.
If anyone can offer help or tips and also where to source the regulators it would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Knock the pin out and swing the arm 180 degrees and swap the mechanisms from side to side

Thanks Timelord. Yes, I wondered about that but the other side is not much better. I thought I might be able to renew both sides, but perhaps they are difficult to source?

The winder only uses 90 degrees of the rack so ok to swap, they were from rear doors of Austin 1100s so hard to find now

Thanks. Yes, I will try that. I am just worried that they may have been swapped before because the previous owner said the windows were troublesome a few years ago but he got someone to fix them. I will have a look at the other side and hopefully I might just be able to swap them. Do you know the best place to get the seals etc. I think the perished and tatty seals gave extra drag on the windows has caused the wear on the regulator gear. Would the standard stuff from somewhere like car builder solutions do? Sorry for all the questions, but if I can order the stuff first I might be able to do the repairs quickly so I can drive the car if we get a nice day or two in the near future!

I purchased a set of Vixen window seals last year from Adrian@ (Exactly TVR). Useful tip re swapping the arms though - will keep that one in my pocket next time I'm looking for something to do.
