Well it's in the title Burton VA19X Camshaft in V6.
I'd like to know your opinions guys and if you have fitted one. It is rated as 1500-6000 rpm but what extra power could be expected.
I'm all ears for the comments

Some work was done by Burtons, rebored +.040", fully balanced, valves done and seats cut 3 angles + guides. Exhaust is JP including manifolds in stainless, Piranha Ignition.
I just wondered about the VA19X camshaft compared to the standard camshaft.
Also if anyone has fitted one and their opinions

The VA19X camshaft from Burton is rated 1500rpm-6000rpm which i find is tiring to drive.
Is it possible to change the Camshaft without removing the Engine.

Two Alan Barkers?

Not sure why a cam that works between 1500 and 6000 would be hard to live with, it looks perfect to me for a road car - guess we all vary in what we feel is acceptable smile

In terms of additional power output, with the work you note, I'd be surprised if you would see more than 5-6 bhp improvement over a standard cam functioning as intended.

Sorry for the 2 alan barkers, i logged in on the wrong one and not plasticpig.

With the camshaft what i mean is below 1500rpm the engine seems to be trying to clear it's throat a little.
At 1500rpm it starts to get better then at 2000rpm upwards it runs 100%.
I think i need to check the timing advance at tickover with my strobe.
The engine is fitted with "Piranha electronic ignition" which i understand is an old system.

Has someone here fitted a "VA19X Burton Kent" Camshaft.

It might be a good idea to make sure the cam is timed in correctly, the factory marks are seldom right unless it's a standard factory cam. It's also possible to tweak the power band a little with advance and retard of the cam timing but probably wise to do a bit of research first.

The Engine was done by Burton so i think it will be right.
On my 3000M it is standard and pulls nice and smooth from tickover.
I think the owner before of my 3000S was a bit of a boy racer because he also fitted 4 pot calipers at the front with ventilated discs. Which imho are not needed for the road, you can just fit better pads from Adrian.
I must say the 5 speed gearbox he fitted is very nice.
I will learn to live with the sporty cam.
I'm surprised nobody else has fitted a VA19X to their Essex V6.
