On my 3000M the rear shocks have adjustable spring perches so height can be adjusted.
On the front the shocks/springs have fixed perches.
Can anyone tell me if front shocks/springs with adjustable perches exist.
Thanks
Alan

Hi Alan

I presume you mean the bottom spring seat being threaded on the damper. I've got adjustable AVO's on my 3000S. Adrian Venn is the man as that's where I got mine from.

Can you post a picture of what you have on the front Alan

Avo do a good product which i have on all three cars i did the 3000s last year ordered through David Gerald using spring rates based on speaking to a number of owners who use there 3000s regularly and very happy with what i now have compared to how it was.
I am sure they will still have on file what i ordered however a bit heavier on the rear spring for the M.
Springs and ride are a very personal thing depending on your driving style and the roads you usually use locally can dictate what way you go.

Why i am asking if Shock/Spring assemblies exist for the front with adjustable spring platforms is i thought i could gain some more ground clearance on my 3000M.
Both my 3000M and 3000S have adjustable spring platforms at the back but not the front.
I think i will take the easy way out and change the tyres to 205/70 R14.
I wouldn't change but i know if i damage the Sump on a speed hump i will be well pissed off to say the least.

Alan,

Not sure that 205/70 14s are a legal alternative in France..... 195/70 14 are certainly too small.

Speak soon

Something makes me think I read somewhere the M chassis was originally designed for 15" wheels

Hi dave,
so can i ask what you have fitted. On my 3000M for the "Contrôle Technique" it passed with 195/70 R14 which like you say are too small and the ground clearance is too low.
The 205/70 that i have found are a very little bit smaller on rolling dia and are "H" rated which i think is good enough.
On my 3000S i have fitted 185/80 R14 as original but i find them elastic on corners a bit vague.

Turbos ran 195x70x14 and with some tucking up of exhaust boxes have no clearance issues?

Early Ms were on 15s. (real early ones were on Vixen wheels).

Indeed they did John.

Alan, I am running 185/80s on my T-Slots but have yet to decide what to use on the Wolfies. May invest in a set of MXVs, but its a lot of money if they are no good....

As I understand it, 195/70 14s is not an allowed alternative to 185/80 14s in France..... So unless you actually have a Turbo, this is an illegal combination...

I have a CT rendevous tomorrow afternoon for one of my other cars, so will ask him for a print of the possibles for a late M series, but I fear that there will be none on 14" rims.

Alan,

From my local CT tester...

Image below shows permissible wheel/tyre combinations to replace 185/80 14

Dave,
i see what you mean but there is no info on "J" width. As far as i understand for "6J" you can fit upto 205/70 R14 which will give almost the same rolling dia as the original 185/80 with more choice and a better speed rating + a good price

I've just fitted the 205/70 R14 on my 3000M and now i have bottom of sills to ground the same as my 3000S 9 inches.
The 205s are H rated too so good enough for me.
