I figure if I start now, I might just get this sorted before the fall.

My electric rear window defroster has never been hooked up. There are wires running to the blade connectors at the rear window. The wires terminate under the dash. I have had the wiring harness replaced with a generic aftermarket kit. I have left one unused switch on the dash for the rear defrost.

Question is: What is proper way to feed power to the rear screen. Are there overheating issues or anything I should watch out for? Given the difficulty in acquiring a new heated screen I don't want to damage the one I have.

Thanks in advance,
Arthur

no doubt there are experts who can tell you exactly what to do, but I think its going to need to run through a relay and a fuse due to the high current. Did you put a modern fuse board in when you rebuilt the car?

How would you wire one of those in as they appear to require a momentary switch, with the standard switch I guess you'd have to just flick it on then off and the window would work for 10 mins, but presumably if you forget to switch the switch off the timer would never turn off? or just come back on again after 10 mins?
