I have contacted the usual places: DG don't stock them and Adrian prefers not to supply as considered too difficult for diy.
I wondered if someone has a pair which they would consider parting with.
If not i will get some made but it would be easier to find some for sale.
I already have quick release hinges on my 3000S which work very well.

Alan, re your comment on DIY this is not the case, I sell these to people that I discern (in either speaking to them or reading their posts/seeing their work) are prepared to read the instructions on how to fit the kit/contact me at the point that they are unsure of a way forward (rather than post on line where it is guess work that I read the post.. today I had a customer post who has a kit they fitted) as if fitted incorrectly these will load the bonnet pin system and the bonnet will pop whilst driving.

Adrian,
I understand your position 100% no problem.
Imho i thought it better to mention i have already tried the normal contacts, otherwise people will suggest contact you or DG.
So has someone got a pair of Quick release hinges for sale PLEASE.
I am a retired Engineer and can adjust things correctly.
I was in the Aerospace Industry at Marconi Space and Defence Systems Portsmouth as QC Engineer. We always had specifications and build procedures to follow.
Many thanks in advance
Alan

I believe at one point Alan there where several versions going around as the ones that are on my 3000S are different to the ones you supplied for my Brothers Taimar.

You could ask Verpoorten Technik to make up a pair. They did these for my Chimaera and now market them.

Just curious, why do you want QR hinges?

Can see benefits if you're going racing but for a road car scratchchin

I had these years ago on my 3000S and if memory serves me right younwill need one part to have a threaded end for adjustment.

You also need to fit a wiring connector so as to be able to remove bonnet easily.

I remember that it was one of the most useful mods to my car as it gave completely unhindered access to the engine bay.

"Wide open" hinge mod...... clicky gives ample access for all but major surgery.

I have a trailer plug for electrics and it's just two bolts if I do want it right off smile

Why do i want QR Hinges.
Why not rolleyes, i have them on my 3000S and find them very handy.
Very easy mod even for DIY.
On my 3000S i also have a 5 speed gearbox which is also very nice but requires a lot more work to fit.
If or when i need to replace bullet connectors in the Wiring Harness or remove the Rad in comfort or relaminate around the frame that supports the Bonnet.
Imho this is exactly right.
I got the info from "M FIX" on the web many thanks, which has imho lots of very good hints/tips for "M" series.

The adapter parts have now been machined, 10 minutes on a friends lathe.
Just waiting for the "R" clips to arrive and new 1/2 UNF 20 tpi set screws to arrive.
I will cut the heads off the set screws then screw into adapters.
When the job's finished i will post photos.

The plugs should be easy enough to find at trailer or caravan specialists (or Ebay), the trailing socket may be a little more tricky to track down.

Black plastic on Ebay............ clicky

Girly connectors are ok, as long as you check the current rating (for a single pin), even on 'standard' 60W headlamp bulbs you are drawing 10A on full beam (2 x 60 = 120/12 = 10) and on uprated bulbs you could be drawing a lot more, I know there are some out there running 130/90 headlamp bulbs, that's over 20A on main beam!!!

Just make sure the return (earth) wire is thick enough!!!

Rest assured David they are more than up to the Job and as you can see a neater job than the bulky trailer sockets i have on the 3000s
Here is the Tuscan one although i have not fitted quick release hinges as yet still makes sense if the bonnet needs to come off at some point.
