fibreglass thickness
Discussion
I have a project 1970 vixen that I am hoping to start this year.
I am considering doing the fibreglass prep myself and have started to give the shell a look over.
The fibreglass is considerably thinner than that of the 92 griffith that i have ( less than half).
Can anyone advise me of the standard fibreglass thickness of these shells.
Cheers.

I don't think there is a standard thickness and it depends where. Stress area or little stress area.
That's the good thing about grp you can change the thickness where it's needed.
I know for sure on my TVR's the grp is a lot thicker than on my Lotus Elan Sprint(chapman "light is right").

Having looked at the bodywork, most of it appears to be about 1.5 mm (at the edges). Just a little suprised. should be able to lift it off with 1 little helper.
Took eight of us for the Griff.
That is why they are quick..Took eight of us for the Griff.
thickness depends upon how many times they have been crashed and repaired or restored.
If you are tuning the motor, adding an additional layer internally doesn't do any harm.
