Hi guys, just read; From April, only electric cars will be exempt from road tax. Every other car will be charged based on their CO2 emissions, with a £140 flat fee every year after that.
Hope this is not true. Anyone know any more information about classic cars and the tax rules?
Cheers, stevo.

It isn't retrospective.

New cars only.

All road tax changes / bands have been from a 'start' date, there is no retrospective action. TVRs registered after March 2001 have no emission data anyway, so all pay the LGV rate of £230 (this year).

That said, now that the road tax of £0 is rolling forward again for cars over 40 yrs old, what chance that all 'historic vehicles' may end up with an admin charge of some kind?
