Gents,

Can anyone advise me on where I might be able to obtain a workshop manual for my 1969 Vixen? Have a few jobs to do on it during its winter layup and would be nice to have a little bit of printed guidance along the way, if possible. Thanks!

Or try Ford Escort/Cortina//Triumph Herald/TR6/GT6/Stag//Riley.....!
(Have I missed any?)

There was a limited owners manual at the time , which occasionally come up on EBay. Other than that, the Haynes manual for the early cortinas does well for the engines, brakes and much of the hubs etc are triumph, but not really worth getting a TR6 manual for that. Data is available on the net for torques etc. Other than that, the parts list above has most stuff.

Thanks guys, any info regarding things like removing center console so I can access the shift bushings for replacement?

That sounds like a gearbox out job, not much access from above. The tunnel top trim is fixed from below, not easy to reach round gearbox, exhaust and handbrake. Geoff

Thanks Geoff. Well, at least I've a lift in my garage to make that task a bit easier.

Also, what is the group consensus on and oil catch can? I noticed that the prior owner has vented the crankcase via a rubber hose down along side of the engine block and after the car sits overnight from being driven, I have a pretty big spot of oil on the ground under where that tube exits.

The console is normally secured with two coach bolts with wing nuts which are reasonably accessible from underneath the car. There is a big enough hole to access the shift bushing from above without removing the gearbox.

If you need to drop the gearbox then you need to remove the console in order to remove the gear lever.

Thanks Matt. I am waiting on the bushing kit to arrive from England so soon as it gets here I will investigate and report back on what the required procedure on this particular car was. Hopefully as you say, I will be able to rectify everything from the top side.
