Search on the unknown tab.

It thoroughly depresses me to think that this car will be a total loss because some numpty with a clip board has classified the car as a total loss..

Surely its value and Rarity and simple construction would allow the car to be re-inspected by the DVLA / VOSA with a view to saving it..

Its looking like at best it might be saved to be a racer…But it will take someone with a singly determined mind to save it..

Is anyone man for the job!!

I have heard of cars being bought, exported and imported to get around this crazy situation caused by insurance companies….

I wonder if a petition will make folk listen…

Depressed. And feeling mighty sad for Alan whom I know loved this car.

Your hyperlink takes me to a list of 718 cars. Which one has you so upset?

It was Alan Levy's car and was flooded when the area Alan lives around Littlebrough was underwater. I believe Alan lost 2 cars and had damage to his house but haven't spoken to him. The car I believe has been categorised as a total loss and classified that it must be broken / destroyed due to the flooding which is a heinous crime since apart from the flood damage the car is fully in tact!!

Pics of the car in happier times

This car needs saving in 1 piece!!

Is that the Tuscan/Griffith ? that sustained flood damage along with a couple of the owners modern cars (Jag and something else) ?
Bloody shame about the TVR , no ecu's or body modules to get damaged , if anything can dry out it must be a 60's tech fiberglass car.

Neil I've emailed them stating that I am aware it was written off as polluted through water damage and that I am unsure of the rules and regulations regards the query but would it be possible to buy the whole car or the majority of the car for it to become a race car and not road registered.

Thinking that if the insurance company wouldn't let the original owner purchase back the car, could they sell it as a list of parts that one person has happened to purchase as a job lot, if you catch my drift.

I've had no response yet but will let you know if I do.

Why is Alan not buying it back intact?

I think this is its best chance. I would the ink that the log book has already been sent back and the car registered as permanently scrapped but there must be a way to save it??
Even it being saved for non road use has to be better than the alternative!!

I haven't spoken to Alan for a long while but you know Littleborough as well as me. Alan lives on the confluence of the river. I don't know but suspect he had his hands full!!

Like I said on Adrian's page, if you find yourself in this kind of situation make sure you get your car somewhere in your possession.
I swear if I hadn't had my M transported home after my crash I would have never seen it again!

It maybe worth giving them a ring to find out more. If you ring up with the guise that your interested in the engine and just happen to get talking about the car as a whole this could lead to a better picture of what can be done. If I was on good ol English soil I'd have done this today, as it is I am in a god awful country where I can't use a phone.

Oh hell, I hope the other one wasn't also SBF powered. As it is, Alan must be devastated. He wrote me, at length, about his history with the TVR, and what influenced him to reconstruct it, as a V8 car.

I hope that it is something than can be salvaged, and possibly even returned to the road, and also, that whoever buys it offers Alan the opportunity to buy it back.

If not, may it at least go to someone who is half as enthusiastic about the marque, as Alan has been.

Best regards,
Bernard.

I'll call them this morning. The advert does not suggest the car will be broken other than into three parts?

Be an interesting discussion that I'm surprised no one has had if they're really that concerned about the loss of a restored car...

Lesson to learn.

Think long and hard before claiming on your insurance when the insured is anything that you're attached to, or is anything out of the ordinary and always negotiate before the deal is done. read

Alan was and still is very upset over his Tvr. He lost 3 cars, everything on the ground floor of his house plus the house suffered quite serious structural damage and they both ended up living in a hotel for a period of time. His life has only just recently returned to some kind of normality with the repairs to his house being recently completed. All of this has been going on since Christmas 2015.

I understand how he feels it all happens so fast and your life is turned upside down it happened to my brother many years ago and two cars lost they where literally floating in the garage and drive.
At the time there are so many things to deal with and if it was just one car and the rest of your life was not effected you would probably handle things more rationally and focused.
However the Insurance companies tend to take over in these situations and by the time things have moved along its hard to stop them.
Has anyone contacted the breakers today i do hope someone comes to the rescue
