It appears that there are plans to remake the original 1960'S TVR Griffith in the USA .
This will get you all talking.

I wonder If registration at the US Patent Office just affects the US.
They say they have also registered the shape - is this for both the Kamm tail and Manx tail cars. How would this affect 'non Griffith' Granturas and early Vixen.

Never sure with America. They seem to make up their own rules for everything. Here was I thinking that David Gerald Own all the rights to the Pre 80's cars. They say they have also registered the shape - is this for both the Kamm tail and Manx tail cars. How would this affect 'non Griffith' Granturas and early Vixen.

What exactly did Mike Mooney do when he was hanging around the Griffith factory when he should have been out on patrol!!
I do remember a case where Macdonalds tried to sue a local burger bar called macdonalds in scotland and they were subsequently written to by on of the original families of the Clan Macdonald reminding them of the history of the name and gently telling them that they hadn't sought permission from the clan. The restaurant chain gently and quietly dropped the case.. America love history but struggle with it in a country thats only 300 years old

There are copies of AC Cobra and Gt40 . Just wondering why there are no Tvr Griffiths . I know there could be a big problem with Air Cars ( cars pretending to be original . )
May be it is best that there are no copies . I am sure there is ready market. If it was done well I would have one even if I could ownly use it I a track

See attached - you probably don't need to go as far as the US to get one.

Just for interest, I can tell you that the US Trade Mark Registry shows that Mike Mooney registered the trademark GRIFFITH and what looks like the original Griffith Logo with the Griffin, in 2005. It was registered in 2007 and he has paid the renewal fee in August this year.
I don't know what is meant by registering the shape of the cars, there are a number of approaches to this and I haven't looked
Regarding geography, the USPTO, which deals with this sort of thing in the US, is only concerned with US trademarks and not the rest of the world. We would have to check some more data sources for that.
