Hello all, many years ago I owned a 3000M as a lad but saving for my first house and not having a second car ultimately led to a very reluctant sale. (Regretted ever since) Not sure if it's still about LNR 777P ? Anyway, twenty something years later, I've got myself a Taimar and I'm over the moon! I'm the first to admit my mechanical skills are limited and I'm in awe of some of the skills listed in other posts here but I would like to use the car on sunny days for the next few years and improve what I can, hopefully learn a bit along the way
and aim to have the body off in a few years and do a proper job.
I have a load of questions but hers a few for starters
I used to use Steve Reid for parts/repairs and was gutted to read of his untimely death, a top guy who learned to answer my questions quickly when I was on a payphone
From reading various threads, I can see Adrian Venn also seems a helpful chap but not sure if he is still in business?
Where can I obtain replacement barrels for both door locks (1978 model) as mine seem completely seized
Are the sun visors TVR items or from another donor as mine are both missing
Does the expanded vinyl sold by woolies match the tan colour in my car, if not can I obtain it anywhere else?
Rear lights are Aston/Scimitar I believe? can new replacement lenses be got?
Will the 7" CIBIE headlights in Demon Teeeks fit the replacement bowls sold by ANG classics? http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/headlight...
Although my car has an MOT, the electrics do need sorting. No heater blower, headlight flash on stalk is goosed, no gauges are illuminated and the rear actuator/servo for the tailgate is also dead.
I would love to have the whole loom renewed and the bulkhead tidied as much as possible with a more modern setup. Can anyone recommend some in North West/ North Wales who has experience of this job as it would take me a year to work it out!
That'll do for now but there's loads more to come
I'd be really grateful if I get any pointers on the above
Thanks

I had seen Adrian's website but the fact that most of the links seem to have been under construction for some time and t he prices were quoted correct as of 2000, I wasn't't 100%.
I'll drop him an e-mail .
Still grateful for any pointers to my other queries
All of the stuff you list adrian either stocks, will tell you where to buy it if it isn't worth stocking because of commonality or will make. he makes replacement foams and visors for the M series models.I had seen Adrian's website but the fact that most of the links seem to have been under construction for some time and t he prices were quoted correct as of 2000, I wasn't't 100%.

Thank you so much for updating me with my old TVR , it's wonderful to know she is still alive and looking fantastic
I bought her from David Gerald when I was 20/21 back in 1988/9, I had the engine rebuilt locally in North Wales but suspect the workmanship was not brilliant.. I later discovered Steve Reid as mentioned in my initial post and enjoyed visiting on several occasions.
On one visit, I left the car with him to have caravan type sockets added to the wiring loom so that the bonnet could be detached easily and when I arrived to collect it ,Steve has fitted a new windscreen too! He was near finishing a beautiful M series turbo in burgundy with a single huge tailpipe at back and I drooled over it for quite some time.
Happy days for sure and the memories of which have drawn me back to the recent purchase of a white Tailmar with blue band . Not sure if it will stay that way but plenty of other issues to fix before contemplating paint choice!

If your new Taimar is white with a blue band then it sounds like FHG102S, there are 2 previous owners of that on here and I am sure Clive in particular will be pleased to know it has a good home.
Steve's burgundy 3000M turbo is also now in Germany, I am volunteering as the collection point for all turbo repatriations under the new Brent ruling!

What an amazing website this is! I've wondered for years if my old car was.still alive and now know a previous owner of my latest purchase.
Clive, if you have any old pictures or interesting notes regarding FHG 102S ,I'd be very grateful as the documentation I have only extends to MOTs and the odd service but nothing regarding the original purchase etc. Am I to take it the white with blue band is the original colour?
Rest assured I am already smitten with her and intend to spoil her
I have spent the last week painting the garage and building overhead racking to de-clutter so that she can over-winter in luxury.

Here is a picture of it in its original livery.....Previous to me, former owner Mr Simpson driving it hard!
I had the Taimar for about seven years, but it had no history when I bought it, and the pack of receipts you received is probably all my history, which amounted to maintenance. I never had any major problem with it. I purchased the car in its present colour from John Waggit of Specialist Sportscars in Yorkshire as a re-commissioning project in 2006, it still has the sticker in the rear window. He will probably know more early history.
I am glad it has turned up and has a good home!
