Finally got it home after two months of waiting and work and a very patient seller. Thanks John.
Anyhow. I'm tracking down various parts in the future but does anyone know any outlet for the rear screen. Searches for this go back way too far for any information to be relevant. Will also be keeping as close to original as possible so as I crack on with this project, information from you guys will be so much appreciated.
Anyway does anyone know the car originally. MEO734K.

There was glass on eBay, not long ago, at a very good price. I'd look there, first.

Best regards, and a big CONGRATULATIONS!
Bernard.

Thanks for that.
Will be doing business soon.
Much more work to be done first though. Once all panels are mated with decent shutlines, then it's dismantling time to see what state the chassis is in. Then all hell breaks loose.

And a bit more.
Looking forward to it though. Haven't built a car for many years. (old capri days)
Just forgotten a lot of the basics. Sure it will come back to me.

Jaybee,

Congrats on getting a Vixen. They're a fantastic car and well under-rated.

What's the plan - road / race / standard / engine etc ????

Be good to see some more photos when you get time and so we can then see progress.

Hi Moto

Thanks.

Due to the fact it's virtually complete, I think Standard. However, as and when I can do it, subtle changes may happen but only things that would have been done to the cars as an improvement. Alternator instead of dynamo etc.
I think the only nightmare for me will be the dashboard as it is non standard (I think). I will post more pictures when possible but I am well and truly sunk at work at this time.

Nice to see a hidden car surface…Don't think I have ever seen this one punted around so must have been in someones garage for a long time. A great project for you and nice to see.
Looks to be a very complete car.

Hi

Tax disc in the car, runs out on 31 July 1979. the gentleman I purchased from had it 2 years I believe before an accident. Then repaired fibreglass, put in the garage and not seen the road since.
Is there any possibility that someone knows purchasing details from the factory for cars of this era, given the chassis no. and or registration.

Presuming the model band is original, it says 'Vixen S'. I vaguely recall seeing something on a Vixen 'S' being a tweaked or tuned version offered by the factory but can't recall where I saw it or what the spec was. Can anyone remind me, or have I just imagined it?

I believe Steve R posted something about them a while ago. Maybe twin webers? I can't remember

I don't think that band is original, pretty sure the Martin was the first car to get a model band. I think the Sports and Super Sports were tuned versions, can't recall exactly what now but as Astacus says Steve R did post about them a while ago. Twin 40s for the Super Sports rings a bell.

Looks a really nice project.

Oliver.

Guys

Unfortunately no twin 40's or any (as far as I Know) special decals. The striping is, as far as I can tell, hand applied so to speak. As is the bonnet paint as I will post when I get the chance to photograph the car some more.
pictures to come soon as many more questions I need answered as to originality of certain things about the car.

Nice car and good luck with your plans for putting it back on the road. Mine came with rather dubious side decals as well.

Nice

Lucky for you it came a little more complete than mine. The side decals on mine are stickers with the exception of the S which is tippex or something of that nature. When I get chance I will email the TVRCC to try and get some info on the first sale of the vehicle.

Trust me, despite the curvy appeal it was pile of broken bits. It was great fun to resurrect it (most of the time at least!) and I enjoyed doing it, although my neigbours weren't too impressed during my 3 month assault on the bodywork. They are now speaking to me again!
