On my 3000S the cooling system has been cleaned, new swirlpot,new hoses,new water pump from burton with cast impeller, 2 kenlowes infront of rad, new thermostat. The cooling system has no leaks and operates well.
BUT when i went for a drive and was stopped with engine running for 15 minutes VAPOUR LOCK. I opened the bonnet to see fuel bubbling inside the glass dome of the mechanical fuel pump .
So it looks like the project of fitting an Electric Pump has advanced to n°1 position in the list of things to do
I suppose others have had this problem (i know don't stop and drive fast to keep things coooool)

Original line attached to outside of top nearside chassis rail as far as possible away from heat but will check full length of run.
I thought it could be transfer of heat through fixing flange of mechanical pump and bolts. A thick spacer is between engine and pump flange.
There is a return from carb to tank and i thought fitting an electrical pump to circulate fuel to carb then back to tank would keep the fuel cool.

I have ordered a Huco fuel pump from Eurocarb and i will fit it to fuel tank outlet.
I have 2 fuel lines a supply to carb and a return from carb to tank.
With an electric pump there will be continous flow so warm fuel will return to tank to be cooled. If i have plenty of fuel in tank i think it should work.
I will just switch on the pump when it's a hot day.
Until it's all installed i will carry a vaporiser full of water if the mechanical fuel pump needs a spray of nice cool water to

Huco pump fitted and can be operated when the Ignition is turned on if needed.
I have fitted a Switch with a warning light so can be turned on if and when required.
It is a low pressure pump and is very quite indeed and much less noisier than the Facet pump in my 3000M. We will see the result when i am stuck in a traffic jam and the engine gets very hot causing vapour lock in the mechanical pump. Then i will switch on the pump to bleed vapour lock from circuit.
That's the theory anyhow.
