Hey All,

This has just come up on CarandClassic.co.uk. I reckon if you're in the market then it seems a very fair price and well worth further investigation.

Looks like good value. Missing Engine and Box but an easy fix for a couple of grand. Project is well along and looks nicely done. Pretty good deal for someone.

Interesting asking price and nice project but still costly to complete. Decent engine & box £4000, paint £4500, electrics £1000, radiator etc £500 and £1000 for all the calipers/cylinders/pipes etc £500 then you've got a pile of bits costing £16500 on your driveway and got to get all the remaining bits/trim/etc etc etc and hundreds of hours of time to finish it for under £3000 to make it worthwhile on costs.
All do-able, but it just shows even these lower starting cost projects are difficult to make work to a high standard at the end. Either that or shows just what the cars should be worth completed?

Plus £500+ for a petrol tank?

To get it to this standard would be the same price not allowing a lifetime in hours...

yep, sold already.

That was quick. I agree that the costs look quite high from here on in, but not really much worse than any complete rebuild except for maybe the engine and gearbox. Both come up regularly on E bay so not hard to source, although of course likely to need a rebuild. Rear screen will be hard to find, but I am sure they are out there. The rest is just what you are going to need to buy anyway, no?

All part of the fun in buying something unseen…Its only an hour up the road for me but its an S3 so not my thing.
Hopefully it has gone to a normal person who will enjoy the project rather than a speculator.

My longest pick up trip was Rochdale - Culompton - Gateshead - Rochdale..All in a day.

Agreed,

It won't be easy driving all that way with an ear to ear grin...

I would have been very tempted if two rebuilds were'nt still ongoing and a new tow car wasn't pulling at the "I want heart strings..."

Not to sure how you Quantify Normal when it comes to TVR Owners is there such a thing.

Yes I have purchased the car and she will be restored and enjoyed no speculation just accumulation.

However she is not for myself but will be restored for a great friend we will work on her together using each others strengths he runs a Local Car workshop and helps me out from time to time with my cars and taking my cars to shows etc.
So mechanical side will be his domain and as he trained as an auto electrical engineer the electrics as well with the other end my side and my local Body shop who is also a good friend and has painted several cars for me so its going to a good home.

We have talked for a while that he needs a Vixen of his own as he loves mine so much.

As for a grin from ear to ear yes very pleased at the price viewing is not really needed and the seller is glad its going to a good home.

Nice fast road cross-flow to build or find and a 5 speed but mostly a period restoration with some of the best ideas from my Tuscan and my Vixen.

Good news Andrew/your friend and good luck
I'm sure it will work out brilliantly and no doubt you will confirm that on a regular basis! In the meantime I'll get back to shoving another coat of grey dulux on the bumpers and ordering more metric bolts frown
