Dear all, thanks for response regarding my search for a 3000M or Taimar. I will be following up next week.... Can I ask does anyone know which manufacturer/ model would make ac compatible space saver? I believe the 4 stud wheel and tyre size for t-slot wheels is 195/70/14, so any ideas what modern vehicle version would fit??

Thanks again, Lee.

Sorry to be a complete Luddite. Do you have to do Faceache to get in?

Probably?

It is a steel rim space saver from a Volvo, tyre size 125x90xR15

It is mine and for sale, for not a lot of money wink

£12, but this may get removed by the mods as being an advert whistle

Sounds perfect. I'm hoping to get a car in the next two weeks. Can I have a contact number to sort out purchase when I'm ready. Thanks, Lee. FYI my mobile number is 07868464170 and I'm in Wadhurst near Tunbridge Wells.

Does anyone bother with spares these days?

Yes, why wouldn't you with an M series?

Aprreciate more hassle with earlier cars.

You struggle to buy a new car with a spare wheel?

Just don't see the need, but not saying Its wrong, just a big old lump to carry around that you'll probably never use. Car will run a few degrees cooler without too.

Spare helps direct air through rad so would expect it to help cooling.

Was also part of crash testing design - not that I want to test or put much trust in that!

Also has the benefit of being a spare, right size tyres are a bit of a pain to get these days so wouldn't want to lose the benefit of just changing and carrying on. Not ideal in middle of France on holiday.

I carried space savers 25 year ago in a 3000s, never used. Done over 750,000 miles in cars and bikes and never had a flat. Nowadays with better tyres and options I don't see the point of a spare.

Temperature reduction is what I have experienced. With Ms and Ss I have run without spares (mech gauge so representative of what's happening)

If you want / need the comfort of knowing you have something that will get you home, they do what they say on the tin. Just make sure it's not all cracked before you buy.

That's fair enough.
I've not been so lucky and have had punctures on cars and motorbikes. Agree the tyres are better but have had a few caused by nails screws picked up off the road.
Maybe I'm just unlucky.

No spare + puncture = knackered
+ inflation kit = new tyre

I've had several occasions in more modern cars where I've had to leave them by the side of the road overnight and go back in the morning with a spare so it would be the stuff of nightmares in a TVR.

As in spare wheels Andrew, but it appears everyone does and they seem to have a need for them.

I must just be lucky.
