3000S boot seal
Discussion
I've just fitted new Boot Hinges because the old ones were completly worn out.
Now when i close the boot i need to press down a lot to close it.
I am wondering if the Seal around the boot is the correct one.
Could someone say which is the correct type please

Hi
Your seal looks identical to mine. My old hinges were worn and when I replaced them I found mine a bit more difficult to shut. I assumed it was because the seal was being compressed more due to the new hinges. Mine did ease up after a while. Can you see if it's stiff at the back or the front of the boot as if it's at the front there is adjustment. I tried mine with the seal just on the back to see if it was catching at the back and it was but as I said t has eased over time.

Mine looks much the same you do have to push it a little bit to close but I guess if you did not it would not seal properly.
One thing I found when I got her was the seal especially on sunny days tends to stick to the underside of the boot and I tried all sorts to stop it even talcum powder.
However what I came up with was black fabric tape and hey presto it worked as the smooth fiberglass was acting a bit like a fridge door.
Now when I press the button the boot opens three quarters up straight away.

thanks Andrew,
for your help and good clear photos. The hinges are new and the same as on my Lotus Elan Sprint.
I have of course fitted new gaskets and will maybe try 2 gaskets under the part that fits to the body. This is the same method as on Lotus Elans and stops too much pressure and flexing of the grp.
I'm just fitting new gaiters for the Gearlever and Handbrake. I bought them from Adrian and a very nice bit of kit exactley like original, spot on
