Having earlier this afternoon cracked at least one rib meaning the likelihood of no cycling or running for a fortnight I am spurred to ask how others deal with the utter wretchedness of what should be a simple task ie replacing rear light bulbs on a 1978 M .

Have any owners worked out how to re-arrange the clusters by design/ drilling so that one can simply unscrew the plastic lens & replace bulbs instead of the ridiculous contortions one has to perform (& at 61 yrs less than ideal !) whenever one light bulb goes & the inevitable effect it has on others e.g. in my case indicators. The fact that the M has no boot & yet this design was pursued by someone 40 odd yrs ago allegedly technically minded makes it doubly ridiculous in my opinion

I know one never buys an old TVR for sound electrics but this afternoon was almost the last straw for me. Even when you can get yr fingers around the bulb holders spades and wires drop down by the petrol tank area to further develop negative language skills.

Or do i just have to put up with it 2 or 3 or times a year and hope I don't injure myself via the console & rear "access" area again? Hmmm the classifieds calling I fear.....

I suppose the best way forward would be to replace all the bulbs and holders with some LED ones. These will last a lot longer than normal bulbs in fact once fitted they should never need replacing unless you do a few hundred thousand miles a year.

Thanks Chris that might be better than a few more cracked ribs even at 2 k mikes per year.Half the time i think they pop out over speed humps rather than blow out so may need to look at extra securement too.
