3000S footwell lights?
Discussion
Morning all,
Apologies (if any needed), but I am still in 'sponge mode'. Here's my latest question.
I'm having to replace the centre console in my 3000S because the existing one is actually from an M.
Thankfully Ian Bannister came up trumps (again), and I now have a replacement. Interestingly though, it has cutouts in the footwell sections presumably for interior lights (although one has been blanked with a piece of chequer plate).
Is this normal? I've not seen this before on web photos, but possibly they're tucked out of sight.
Thanks
Cliff

Not one I have seen before I would ask Adrian when it comes to M series especially 3000S he is probably the one to ask .
Seems strange and I wonder if it was factory work especially as the blanking plate is actually Check Mate Plate not Checker Plate which the factory used and often used off cuts for various brackets etc on cars as that's the pattern they used for sill plates.
Will be interesting.
Andrew
Hi Cliff
I believe these lights were only an option on the very early cars.
They are however desirable as they are tucked up, out of way behind the dash, but when lit illuminate the floorwells prior to entry.
When I rebuilt a certain well known maroon 3000S Turbo back in 1991, 2 lights were present.
This car was the 17th S built.
Your console came from the 5th S built, the blanking plate being made from a sill plate offcut & fitted at Bristol Avenue.
I never saw evidence of lights on later S's ... including the one off... S Turbo SE
Cheers Ian

Hi Cliff, congrats on your new 3000S, I just got mine this spring, and I simply love the car. My S has a set of the footwell lights and they work sort of, I seem to be having some electrical difficulties that have just manifested themselves, sometimes my turn signals work and other times they do not, and same with the footwell lights. I will be happy to send you pictures of them over the weekend. I will not see the car until late Saturday. I will snap some photos and add to this topic and you can see them, and if I can get you some part numbers off of them you still should be able to find some.
Hi Gentlemen,
Please find attached photos of the footwell lights, unfortunately I seem to be having all sorts of electrical issues, even on my iphone, could not get the flash to work as needed. I will try to remove one of the lights next weekend and I give a part number. I was just able to stop by and get photos, no time for any mechanical work. But this coming weekend I will have a bit more time to investigate part numbers on them

Hi Cliff,
Sorry I will not be able to get the parts number off the footwell lights until a little later, the car is going to the body shop today to clean up various damages to the bonnet and a respray. Stone bruises, some star cracks from previous owner trying close bonnet on too tall a battery, star cracks right where battery posts are, as well as annoying damage due to bonnet striker pin failure, threads stripped out of striker pin into support plate, bonnet flew open and nose dived into pavement at the very last minute due to a wind gust. Minor damage but bonnet striker pin threads are all but stripped on driver side. And I believe these are the replacement ones, not the original units, but not quite sure how to tell. So, when the car comes back from the body shop, I have quite list of electrical items to test for a bad ground somewhere in the turn signals and footwell lights, They work, and so do the turn signals, but lately they seem to have a bad ground somewhere, as well as the one of the backup lights. So, later I will be looking closely at the footwell lights and can give you some numbers off the back of the unit, and hopefully you can source them.
