Very quiet here...
Discussion
Can not say I am surprised, there seems to be an attitude of ridicule, and run down when people post here. Shame some people with a little knowledge given to them from Steve and others now feel knowledge is power and they post non constructive help.
Perhaps if cerain members are open to new members and there question more will post here, remember TVR's aren't just built to race

Is Adrians page viewable by anyone or do you need to join facebook?
I expect you do need to join...........my daughter set mine up so it does not show any personal stuff, keeps my "social / friends" stuff off it, is not connected to other "microsoft" accounts (important) but allows me to participate in forums. Log on and click forum of choice.......not totally disimilar to PH TC
It is a shame that such a small cohort of pre 80 TVR enthusiasts now have to visit several shop windows for discussion and to seek a resource for help and support. I must say that the TVRCC forum should be a vibrant hub for such debate but I completely understand that not everybody who wants to post on a classic TVR forum owns a classic TVR and therefore feels the need to be a car club member. Personally I don't want to do facebook so I dare say I am going to miss some interesting and informative posts.
For me it's a shame when people post comments that they wouldn't say to your face when looking over your car at say a classic car meeting. Equally its also disappointing when grown men go off with their arse in their hand just because someone has the temerity to disagree with their particular opinion! It shouldn't matter if you have restored 50 cars or don't know one end of a spanner from another. Some of the most interesting posts are often started by people with no TVR knowledge and no preconceived ideas about these wonderful old cars. Perhaps the fact that we are now a forum without any "experts" that others, who lurk but I know read the posts will be persuaded to join in a little more often and keep this place interesting? We may not always agree with each other but unless folks post then this place will become a dull place to visit. Thank heavens for Rene and his relentless crusade to publish every TVR photo on the planet!

There is a lot in this statement, however the last 'tiff' was caused not over a difference of opinion, but over matters related to someone's business (livelihood), this is a little more serious. Over the years there have been many spats/personality clashes/etc, threats of forming other TVR Car Clubs, TVR Drivers Clubs, splits over factory involvement, the way the club was run, etc, but at the end of the day there a limited number of these cars, and really an effort should be made to get on, it's in everyone's interest. We can't always agree with each other, and we don't have to actually like each other, but respect for opinions and certainly a respect for someones livelihood should be maintained at all times.
But then there are some who want to be self appointed Judge, Jury and Executioner!!

You probably need to join Facebook as it's a closed group.
Did'nt see you at the pre 80s this year.

Pity about that I really enjoyed Adrians posts and found them of real interest but I wont be joining fb, don't ageewith the terms and conditions, the spying or a host of other stuff they do ... and I think Mark Zuckerberg is a sell out
I wasn't at the Pre 80s, my wife is ill, she had been in hospital for a week and came out on a Friday, the show was Sunday, it was just too far away from home for me to get back in a rush if I had to. I was gutted to miss it as its my favourite show. Am still sulking about it, but will hopefully be back for the 2016 one.
My 2p worth
A week or so I thought that this was a disaster and a real shame, but not anymore, the future is bright!
Having been kicked up the backside to start re using my dormant Facebook account, a few hours spent working out how the privacy setting work on FB, then realising just how easy it is to upload stuff, share files etc and there is no looking back. This steam powered forum is similar to what we were using 15-20 years ago and is really a thing of the past, but I guess we are all getting older and more resistant to change….. it is a shame for those that don't do FB though..
Adrian’s FB site is what this could place could have been with a bit more tolerance and some up to date technology…a TVR group of enthusiasts sharing information and having a laugh.
It’s is a breath of fresh air after the toxic stuff that has flowed around here for some while and will hopefully remain so.
Times and people move on,
A+
