Anyone know a source for an M series Fuel Tank. A fellow (ex) member of South Wales Region TVRCC has owned a 1600M for about 30yrs.(it's the white P reg one that is in the original road tests) His fuel tank which is alloy, and is the second tank in the car has started too leak. He has given the car to a local classic car garage to sort, and they have told him that they are unable to source a new tank. He said they told him that they had contacted Adrian and TVR Parts without success. Does anyone know who could manufacture or supply one?

Various people have put alloy tanks in their Ms i am sure someone can give a recommendation. In the absence of anything concrete right now I can recommend Andy Wiltshire as an alloy fabricator. His work is very good, he can make an alloy version of a steel tank if you give him the original.

His website is here http://axminsterspecialistpanels.com/

Correct with the contract that they can buy them back as needed and anything that TVR Heritage cant supply they can source elsewhere or have made

Try to get in touch with Mike Luck from Classic World Racing ( info@classicworldracing.co.uk)
He might be able to source the right tank in alloy. He recently helped me with a Tuscan tank. Great service!
Good luck!

My first thought was DG too, sure they would have had them made up a very likely to still have one or two lying around. Sounds like the garage doesn't want the job, but tanks are easy enough to swap over if you can get hold of one.

Give Stan and Mary my regards.

Oliver.

Thread hijacked slightly to show a photo taken of Stan and Mary's 1600M and my Taimar in my parents drive in Yorkshire, before we headed off to the Manx Classic the following day, September 1995.

Just sent you a PM. If your friend can't get a new tank, then I've got a used tank (from a Taimar) in the garage.

Read a few threads about fuel tanks.

I need to replace my 1800s tank, and am wondering which option people are choosing.

I like originality but never particularly liked the original tank as it's alot f fuel with not much protection if you are smashed up the rear. There are several race tank designs but the capacity is reduced with the odious reduction in car range.

Is there a suitable safer style fuel tank/cell that is race crash proof that still retains a reasonable range?

Thx neil

Well, a foam filled alloy tank might solve the problem. However, a special sender unit is needed ( VDO) and gauge.
Why don't you try with Nigel Reuben Racing...for sure they have proper race tanks made ( for Grantura and Griffith)

Those alloy tanks from Holland look like good value!

Will order one as well, if possible. What are the pros & cons for alloy versus stainless, with regards to durability, safety etc? Which are preferable?

Thanks, Morten
