Timing marks 3000m
Discussion
I'm sure this will have been pointed out before.
I was having trouble setting the timing on my 3000m to get it to run ok I had to have the timing set way advanced or so I thought using the marks on the pulley. So I decided to find the TDC which isn't marked on the essex v6 the mark on the pulley times up to the marks on the timing cover ranging from 6deg B TDC to 14deg B TDC. Anyway using a dial gauge down the spark plug hole touching the top of the piston I found that TDC was in actual fact lined up with the 6deg mark so it was 6deg out. So if using the marks setting the timing to 14deg B TDC it was actually only 8deg B TDC. So don't rely on the timing marks being correct check TDC first.
