Hi

Car set up by a very well known expert and has been running perfectly for a few weeks. This morning, start her up and the idle is all over the place (both hot & cold) and fluctuating / cycling between minimal and around 1200 rpm. Before I start dabbling, and potentially ruin all the good work done, what are the obvious and well knowns for the Essex in standard form.

All ideas appreciatedidea

Thanks

TC

An air leak would be my first guess after that it could be anything from points plugs distributor coil etc etc.

I am new to Weber carbs, I am running 40 DCNFs and I came across a very good website about a guy restoring a Ferrari 246 Dino, and he is running three Weber 40 DCNF's, but he has a very good explanation of how the Weber's work at below 3000 RPM and above 3000 RPM and when to know where to make adjustments depending upon the where the issue might be hiding. If you are a newbie like me, its well worth reading blogs under "Carb tuning #1 through #3 Weber DCNF carbs and their adjustments explained"

[quote=Adrian@]Tony does have an auto choke...and is/was new to the TVR world of auto chokes, so it is sorted...I previously had corrected the jetting on his car as it had a NEW 38dgas fitted with 'OE jetting' (fitted by a previous owner I believe, out of the box for a fuel that could be bought in 1978!!!!) that was way off the mark for a standard Essex V6 using 2015 fuel.
Adrian@

Above confirmed. ................and Adrian also added / sorted and corrected the "missing" hot / cold water plumbing! The learning point from the day of my posting was "don't unknowingly stamp on the loud pedal (probably numerous times) while levering oneself into a 3000M". idea

As for the spoiler........IMHO people like me can only learn from actual experts and not the "cut and paste from goggle / others" that seems to be the forte of some on here and other TVR forums.......'nil carborundum illegitimi' Adrian
