I have a S2 Vixen and need to purchase an FIA homologated race seat, although not an FIA race series local regulations follow appendix K when it comes safety equipment etc.

Having studied online catalogs and dimension charts the issue seems that the 'ears' of the seat at it's widest point may foul on the door, not having a seat to physically try in place is making a the choice difficult.

Can anyone recommend a seat that fits please.

Thanks for the info, unfortunately I am not in the UK and in a bit of a hurry.

I have seen a photo of an Orange Vixen with what looks like a Sparco Sprint fitted can anyone confirm this? Here is the image http://thumbsnap.com/sc/iF8a6vVt.jpg

I also found an old thread om this forum confirming (with image) that the Sparco Sprint fits the M serries, are the cockpit dimensions the same as the Vixen?

There is no simple answer as it depends on how far back you mount the seat. I have a Sparco Rev in a Grantura but it will only just fit if you fit it tilted and as far back as it will go. Most competition seats will not fit

Great info gents thanks.

Can anyone confirm if the Vixen and M series share the same internal cockpit dimensions? I 'think' they use the same rear window which implies the should be very similar?

The Cobra FIA Historic seat also fits - check their website for Historic seats then restricted width: it is available in more colours and fabrics including leather (bit pricey though)

FIA homologation means the Cobra FIA Historic seat meets all competition requirements. This is a modern composite seat to provide maximum safety yet it features old school livery to combine heritage feel with the most modern materials. Designed exclusively for use in historic competition vehicles, where space is at a premium and FIA approval in mandatory, this is the narrowest FIA approved seat on the market.
Classically styled narrow FIA competition seat.
FIA homologated to 8855-1999.
5/6 point harness facility.
Compact dimensions for narrow cockpits.
One piece heavy duty weather resistant vinyl cover.
Extensive fabric, vinyl and leather Signature options.

Although I wateringly expensive the FIA spec Tillett B6F seat is worth looking at. we've used them in cars where space is restricted especially if you have a tall driver and need to get them low

I am running a Corbeau Monza in the Vixen racer (not now compliant) that needs to be replaced soon, it had had the trim removed and trimmed (about 5mm on the edge of the Kevlar) to go past the roll cage and the trim then replaced.
Adrian@
Adrian as long as you are racing in UK then seat is OK as long as it is fit for purpose. Lifing only applicable tho Fia international racing.

Lifing is applicable to all rallying frown

Should be life'd at so many events (say 20 or 30)and not 5 years (my seats and belts given away and only done 2 events in the 5 years)
