Has anyone used SpeedyCables for refurbishing clocks on a Vixen or similar?

Any idea of cost - alternative is to buy a new set of Smiths Classic gauges,

TIA - Simon

Loads have and their work is fine.

Speedy is not a suitable description of their service though.

Not classic, but the work Speedy did on the Elephant's clocks was excellent.

That's the sort of work I need.

Can I ask how much to do those 2 clocks?

I also had the 4 smaller clocks done at the same time.

If you can give me a day or so I will be happy to have a look through the resto file and pm you with what information I have.

How does that sound?

Had the Vixen Rev counter refurbed and converted for electronic ignition for about £40 by the guy who advertises kits on eBay he's very good. Speed cables didn't seem to know what day of the week it was and never return calls.
Look up Spyda.com he's a good guy. You can do it yourself easily and there's a nifty thing that enables a computer to send the right frequency to the rev counter to calibrate.

Another to back up that Speedy is a misnomer.

Work is good though.

Speedy cables do a good job but are definitely not speedy.

I had a 911 unit repaired by an old guy in Yorkshire, trading as JDO, the speedo was back at my door within 48hrs of sending it, recommended.

Everyone I have dealt with recently is in Kent/South of London has it become the new gravitational centre of the universe for TVR and WW2 Jeep related stuff?? Is it the new Blackpool/Black Country? I would move there if it wasn't for the fact that Andrew is there too wink

Sorry its Kent Again but Alan at the Gauge shop was very good on my Tuscan ones even when one of the parcels went a stray he found replacments for me he may not be the fastest but he is good he did all the Gauges for the first series of For the Love of cars 18 months ago.
Its always good when restoring a car to get things like this out to specialists early so they don't have to rush and you have peace of mind that they are there when you need them

I have used Speedy Cables twice, on an S and a Porsche 912. No problems with the workmanship but the delays held up other work on the cars. I would be very keen to hear of other firms who are reliable.

Speedy cables are fine, I had them convert an old Jaguar speedo and rev counter into Dtype lookalikes, they did a brilliant, recalibrated and repainted faces etc job but they don't rush themselves, this was a few years ago but it sounds like they haven't changed much. Highly recommended if you don't need the stuff next week.
