When you say steering ball do you mean the steering arm track rod end or the top Ball joint on the top wishbone.
Are your threads 5/8 or 3/4 UNF on the top ball joint?

Or do you mean the steering shaft U/J?

I cannot help you with your Carb settings.

Chris,

Weber publish a chart. Depending on whether your engine is running too rich, or too lean, when on the mains, go one step in the opposite direction (on the chart) from the main jets you are currently running. Try it out, and record the results.

Best regards,
Bernard.

Chris,

The chart, to which I was referring, used to live on the wall of the Toronto Weber dealer I purchased parts from. As I recall, the F #s, for the emulsion tubes, are not progressive; they jump from the lean to the rich side. Try these:

Best regards,

P.S. All depends on what part of your rev range, and what load we're talking about. This is a great diagram:

track rod ends are generally Spitfire / GT6. May also be TR4 - 6 dependant upon any work that has been carried out on your car.

Have a look here.
