BIGGER engine (V6)
Discussion
OK so I did'nt get a prototype M but I did pick up a cheap 1600M.
I have now begun a body off rebuild and found that that the chassis is in need of some major rework. Having purchased a MIG welder to carry out this task I've got to thinking 'why not slap in a V6?'
Has anyone out there in 'TVR classic land' carried out such a conversion? Is there any how to modify your chassis instructions? Anyone got a good cheap V6 gearbox and prop?

The V6 Essex Engine is very heavy compared with the Kent Engine, you would have to change some of the wiring loom, tacho, speedo, exhaust system and the rear diff as well, cos that Spitfire/GT6 diff will just explode with the torque from the Essex.
What do want from the car?? If its just a toy and you want a good handling car, then I would stay with the Kent engine, tune it up (140bhp easily attainable) and you'll get a very nimble car. The 1600M is very well balanced car and weighs 300lbs less than a 3000M, don't just dismiss it.
If you want to replicate a 3000M then by all means put a V6 Essex in, less nimble, put a lot more low down grunt than the 1600M
But if you're a power crazed madman, then why stop at the Essex V6, you have the whole world of engines open to you, but the common ones that people have done in the past are
302 Ford V8
Rover V8
Cosworth Turbo
Its really up to you, and how deep your pockets are.
