I have owned my Vixen S3 since 1994 and I am quite attached to it. But in reality, I never use it and I've just bought a second Porsche 944 which means I now have three weekend cars. I think something's got to give but not sure what.

I keep going over the for/against arguments in my head but not reaching a conclusion. Can anyone suggest any compelling reasons why I should either sell it or keep it?

Mine has been up for sale various times over the years and I'm glad it was never sold. smile

You'd miss such a rare and great little car if you let it go.

Well I guess apart from the fact that the Porsche probably has superior design, build quality, is faster, handles better, is more comfortable, more economical, more reliable, and safer . The rest is a no brainer - the Vixen is infinitely superior in ever way! Get shot of one of those common, dull old German motors and make space for the Blackpool bullet.

Well apart from the fact that the Vixen is more beautiful (from every angle), will get more looks from passers by, is miles more fun to drive, easier to work on and I'd guess a lot cheaper to fix, has bags more character and you don't have to admit being a Porsche driver..... it's a no brainer! biglaugh

Keep it a secret but I've always had a hankering for a 911 and recently got to drive a friends 1989 model. Beautifully engineered but it was so dull to drive. Maybe it would be more fun on a track but as a road car no thanks.

OP's Vixen is a '70. The Porker equivalent, is a '70 912. You know, ill handling, built half a decade before that company decided to take steps to protect their products from weather, under powered, fairly ugly, that sort of thing.

Why not compare the 944 to the most recent thing OP admits to tooling around in, from time to time, and advocate he fill each parking slot with one of those?

@OP:
If you don't drive it, and don't plan to, you are wasting its greatest value. The car should be enjoyed. Sell it.

Best regards,
Bernard.

It is literally caged at the moment. A friend is kindly storing it for me for the last 18 months that I have been living out of the UK. But I had to build a coffin around it so he could store things on top of it and retain some of the use of his double garage. Will be digging it out when I come back at the beginning of July.
